I recently ran into this problem again and have had to deal with it in the past. A customer decides to play his guitar outside, puts on some bug spray and damages the finish on the guitar (in the latest case it was a Nitro finish). They asked me if there was any easy way to repair the damage. I am not aware of any way to fix this other then refinishing the damaged areas on the guitar since bug spray and other things like it dissolve the finish. Am I right? thanks Josh |

Unless there is enough finish to wet sand/re-level and buff .... you got it. ![]() |

I tried to save the original finish on a 70's Martin for a friend a while back. I ended up re finishing the sides and back, but didn't have to do anything to the top. |
